How To Remodel Your Garage

Every year, many people decide to remodel their garages into more functional rooms that serve specific purposes or fit certain interests. The process may be very daunting if it is not heavily considered and given much thought. This guide will pass on some ideas of what to remodel your garage into.

Turn your garage into a workshop by adding lighting, a tool bench, and several tool boxes and tables. If needed, rewire the garage to have higher-voltage outlets, which will allow you to weld and use high-power tools.

You can also turn your garage into an entertainment room. For a budget entertainment room, lay down carpet and put in lighting that can be dimmed. Include a large-screen TV and comfortable seating around the room. For a more opulent entertainment room, place a large flat screen against one wall, set dark carpeting on the floor and place movie-theater style seating throughout the room. Also install surround-sound speakers for movie theater-quality sound.

Turn your garage into a gym by laying down carpet, turf or athletic track material, painting the walls a bright color, and inserting fans or air conditioning. Then place storage units for fitness equipment like dumbbells and jump ropes. Then move in your fitness equipment like an elliptical machine, stationary bike, treadmill, punching bags or any of the countless other fitness machines available.

You can turn your garage into an office by painting it a color of your choice, inserting a spacious desk, and lining some of the available wall space with shelving. You can use a white noise machine to increase productivity as you work.

You can also turn the garage into a new bedroom! Insert a ceiling fan to keep the room cool, install windows if you so choose, and lay down carpet or hardwood. You should paint the room a relaxing or bright color to make it a nice room to wake up in.

Change the garage into a bathroom by laying down tile, installing plumbing, and placing in sink and bath fixtures. Place mirrors and light colors on the walls to create a much bigger space.

You can make your garage into a man cave by laying down dark carpeting or rustic hardwood, and decorate it with sports memorabilia, hunting trophies, et cetera. Consider inserting a pool, foosball, or ping pong table for games with friends.

You can divide your garage into different rooms by constructing walls or add a bathroom onto any of the above rooms. Be sure to choose mold-resistant flooring, and clean your garage floor well to remove oil and other car fluids. Allow the garage to air out sufficiently, and use an air purifier to remove car exhaust and other fumes from the air before laying down flooring.

As evidenced by this article, there are thousands of ways to remodel a garage into another living space. Although coming up with an idea may be daunting, by applying your interests and tastes to a classic room model, you can transform your storage space into a wonderful room.
